“Anton” marks the final film of Zaza Urushadze, who received an Oscar nomination. The story unfolds in 1919 within the tranquil German colony of Hildendorf, located near Odessa. Residing there is the unassuming German family consisting of Nicholas, Christina, and their children: the eldest, Johan, ten-year-old Anton, and his younger sister Emma. However, their peaceful existence is disrupted with the arrival of the Bolsheviks, ushering in a period of hunger and death. Through the eyes of Anton and his friend Jacob, who is only beginning to grasp the complexities of life, we witness these tumultuous events.
