За сюжетом, Костя, колись студент медицинського університету, – зараз – доброволець в АТО. В одній з операцій він потрапляє в полон, і його батько-хірург вирушає в небезпечну подорож, щоб здійснити обмін – грошей на сина. Проте ситуація виходить з під контролю, і герої в явному полі бою знайдуть в собі те, що колись було підсвідомим.
Загалом, стрічка розпочинається як драма – конфлікт відчуття цивільної людини, як ось лікаря-хірурга у виконанні В’ячеслава Довженка з реальністю війни. Залишивши затишний Київ, герой стикається з реальністю блокпостів, дружби своїх і підступів сепаратистів. Проте «військова» частина з драматичної стає більше бойовиком – з глибоких драматичних сцен-роздумів герої потрапляють у такий собі захопливий, проте схематичний екшн.
